ECG trunk cables — the monitor-side half of the ECG pathway
The trunk cable is the fixed half of the ECG pathway: it lives on the monitor, takes the knocks of daily bed moves, and outlasts several leadwire sets — until it doesn't, and every lead position starts misbehaving at once. The trunk range (24 listed variants) covers the mainstream platforms, including GE Marquette host cables cross-referenced to OEM numbers such as 2106308-001 (12-lead trunk) and 2017003-001 (3/5-lead trunk), plus Philips, Mindray, Nihon Kohden and Edan patterns.
Trunks are specified by the pair they join: monitor-side connector and generation on one end, the leadwire-set socket (and its pin/keying pattern) on the other. A trunk from the wrong generation may share a monitor brand and still not mate with your sets — which is why this page family exists separately from the sets themselves.

Diagnosing a trunk fault
Suspect the trunk when artefact or lead-off alarms appear across multiple lead positions, when a known-good leadwire set does not cure the fault, or when the fault moves with cable handling near the monitor end. Trunk conductors fatigue exactly where they flex — at the monitor connector and at the set socket. A wiggle test under monitoring (watch the tracing while flexing each segment gently) localises the break in under a minute.
- Multi-lead artefact with a known-good set → trunk suspect #1
- Fault follows the monitor when sets are swapped → trunk or module
- Intermittent lead-off on set reconnection → socket contact wear
Ordering the right trunk
Give the monitor model and, if the old trunk carries one, its OEM part number — GE trunks in particular span several connector generations under similar names, and the number settles it. State also the leadwire-set family the trunk must accept (3/5-lead monitoring or 10-lead diagnostic), since socket patterns differ.

Questions & answers
Will a trunk cable from the same brand always fit my sets?
No — connector generations differ within a brand. Match by monitor model and OEM trunk reference, which we confirm before shipping.
Can a trunk cable be repaired?
Trunks are replaced, not repaired: conductor fatigue is distributed, and a repaired trunk is an intermittent fault waiting for a night shift.
Do you stock 12-lead trunks?
Yes — 10-lead diagnostic trunks (for 12-lead acquisition) are listed for the major ECG platforms, including GE Marquette references.
