Ask a biomedical team what makes a cuff 'fit' a monitor and the honest answer is: the hose. The bladder is standard; the monitor-end fitting is not. That separation is a budgeting tool: a leaking or perished hose does not retire a sound cuff, and a monitor fleet change does not retire a cuff stock — the hose is replaced, the cuffs carry on.

Fitting families

Quick-connect (push-and-click) fittings dominate modern monitors; bayonet fittings serve several European platforms and generations; threaded and luer-slip patterns persist on neonatal and legacy equipment. When to replace a hose

Replace on symptoms: slow inflation, repeated 'cuff leak' or low-pressure alarms with a sound cuff, visible cracking at the strain reliefs, or a fitting that no longer locks positively. Air leaks bias readings and lengthen measurement cycles; a hose is among the cheapest parts in the chain and the most overdue in most cupboards.
